Hyder Ali's Pagoda Listed for Estimated Price of INR 11,000-12,000

Hyder Ali was the sultan of the Mysore Kingdom in Southern India. He was the father of famous ruler ‘Tipu Sultan’ who is also known as ‘Tiger of Mysore’. Hyder Ali began his career as a soldier in the Wodeyar army, due to his professional skills, he raised to the designation of ‘Commander in Chief’ in the army of Krishnaraja Wodeyar II. Later on, his career peaked and he was appointed to the position of Chief Minister in the year 1761. Haider Ali had fought very hard against military advances of the British East India Company in the first and second Anglo Mysore War.This gold pagoda was issued by him weighs around 3.4g. The obverse of this coin depicts the image of seated ‘Shiva and Parvati’. The reverse of the coin depicts the Persian letter ‘He’ on a granulated field.
This gold Pagoda is bided for the estimated price of INR 11,000-12,000 is the upcoming auction of the Classical Numismatic Gallery Auction which will be held in Delhi on 19th May 2018.
