Kutch is a district situated in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is surrounded by the Gulf of Kutch in South and the Arabian Sea in the west. The rulers of Kutch were Jareja Rajputs , they came from Thatta in Sind and conquered Kutch during the 15th Century CE.In 1617 CE, Akbar conquered Gujarat Sultanate, after Akbar’s death the Kutch ruler Rao Bharmal I visited Jahangir to maintain good relations with the Mughal Empire. This chance meeting made Kutch Independent throughout the Mughal Period.
This gold 100 kori issued by Pragmalji II weighs around 18.6g. This gold 100 kori was sold for INR 1,70,000 by Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 20th April 2018. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with ‘crescent between katar and Trident with ‘Morkori 100 Soni Jabarak’ within an inner circle with Vikram Samvat date 1922 with mitt name and legend ‘Maharaja Dhiraj Mirza Maharau Shree Pragmalji Bahadur’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Mallika Muazzima Queen Victoria, Zarb Bhuj Nagar and date 1866’.
