New Polish Banknote to Enter Circulation
2016-02-26 Fri
On 12th February, the Polish National Bank (NBP) will begin to introduce new 200-zloty (200 z?) banknotes into circulation with upgraded security features.Though the graphic design of the 200 z? banknote remains the same, advanced security features include windowed fragments of thread smoothly changing colour from gold to green. On the front of the banknote is a decorative element that also changes colour similarly, and on the back the same feature is found in an iridescent gold ornament along with an enriched watermark. Additional facilities for the blind and visually impaired include 10 diagonal stripes disposed along the short edge of the banknote and a a golden triangle pattern in the lower left corner which consists of small tactile wheels.
Recent technological progress has required the modernization of security notes to eradicate chances of counterfeiting. Designed by Andrzej Heidrich, the “Lord of the Polish” series of banknotes was introduced in 1995. They featured Polish kings from the Piast dynasty and Jagiellons: Mieszko I, Boleslaw the Brave, Casimir the Great, Wladyslaw Jagiello and Sigismund I the Old. The manufacturer of all banknotes is the Polish Security Printing Works.
