Great Demand for Latest Thai Banknotes

Thailand had recently issued new banknotes featuring the country’s new King. These new notes have become extremely popular. People are queued up near banks to get their old banknotes and coins exchanged for the new ones.The new notes are available in various denominations like 20, 50 and 100 baht. All of them feature an image of HM King Rama X dressed in his Royal Thai Air Force uniform on the obverse. The reverse depicts nine earlier kings of the House of Chakri, two on each note.
Within just two hours, the first batch of new notes was sold out. New versions of 500 baht and 1,000 baht notes will be released on the 66th birthday of His Majesty – 28th July. Old banknotes will remain legal tender and the new ones are similar in size and colours.
