A rare banknote of the British Commonwealth’s monetary system is the 1000 dollar note of Malaya. This note was issued in 1942 and features the portrait of King George VI on the right vignette.The rarity is of this note is the result of its high face value, less printing and also fall of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942.This note depicts legend ‘Board of Commissioners of Currency Malaya’ on the top panel with signature and serial number on top right and bottom left corners. The denomination in number is printed on the left with promissory text in the middle and the vignette on the right. Date and a circular design for the watermark are depicted below it.
The reverse of this note depicts the Coat of Arms of the Malaya currency board with the denomination and different Coat of Arms on both sides within the floral designs.
