Quarter Anna of Bikaner

The city of Bikaner was established by a Jodhpur Rathor Rajput named Rao Bikaji in the year 1465 CE. During the period of the Mughals, Bikaner was intimately linked to Delhi by ties of both loyalty and marriage. Both Akbar and Jahangir had married to the Princesses of Bikaner Rajputs. Bikaner came under the British influence in the year 1817 and in 1947 it was incorporated into the modern state of Rajasthan after independence.Ganga Singh was the Maharaja of Bikaner from 1888 CE to 1943 CE. He was the third and the youngest son of Maharaja Lal Singh. He is remembered as a modern reformist visionary. He was the only Indian in the British Imperial War Cabinet during World War I.
This copper Quarter Anna was issued by in the year 1895 CE. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the bust of Queen Victoria facing towards left with divided legend Queen Victoria written around. On the reverse side, a coin is inscribed with ‘One Quarter Anna India 1895’ written within the circle, with Bikaner State written around.
