Mughith Al-Din Yuzbak had come to Bengal as governor probably in the late 640 AH and declared himself independent in 652 AH.Coins issued by Mughith Al-Din Yuzbak are very rare. His first coin minted from the mint Nudiya, a place which is about 50 miles of the present day Calcutta, is extremely rare. He issued these coins with the title ‘Kunya of Abul Fath’ (Father of Victory). During the later period of his reign, he issued coins from the mint Lakhu. It is unclear that whether it is Lakhnauti or Laknur. The engraving on these coins is excellent.
This silver tanka which was issued by him from the mint Lakhnauti or Laknur was sold for INR 40,000 by Todywalla Auction. The obverse of this coin is seen as ‘Al-Sultan Al-Azam Mughith Al-Dunya Wa’l Din Abul Muzaffar Yuzbak Al-Sultan’. The reverse of this coin is seen as ‘Fi Ahad Al-Imam Al Mutansir Al-Muminin’ within the circle, mint name and date written in the margin.
