Rarest Stamp of Czech Philately Sold for $448,600

A 4-koruna postage stamp featuring Austrian Coat of Arms on granite paper with inverted black “POSTA CESKOSLOVENSKA 1919” overprint was auctioned after 90 years for a record-breaking $448,600 by Burda Auction of Prague that was held from 9th to 11th March. It is regarded as the rarest stamp in Czech philately. The postal museum in Prague had showcased the stamp for decades before it was sold in the 1990s.A gutter marginal block of six of the Czechoslovakia 1933 1k Church at Nitra issue was sold for $94,900. It is the largest known gutter multiple and one of only 20 known.
A fragment of a parcel dispatch note with all three of the 1920 Vejprty forgeries was sold for $16,100. A registered letter with two 1923 Teplice forgeries of the 1920 60-haleru blue Chainbeaker along with to genuine stamps sold for $15,528. An unused £50 brown Kenyan stamp and a black King George V stamp from Uganda were sold for $57,513.
