World Autism Awareness Day

The United Nations General Assembly declared World Autism Awareness Day on 2nd April 2008. This event was commenced to spread awareness and improve the lives of children and adults affected by this neurological variance. It also focuses on to help these people to lead a meaningful life.The observance of this event today in United Nations headquarters at New York is to focus on the significance of empowering women and girls with autism. The girls affected by this disability are less likely to complete their primary education, women with this disorder can face gender-based, sexual, psychological and economic violence’s.
To commemorate this day, United Nations Postal Administration issued three sets of two stamps on 2nd April 2012. The artwork illustrated on the above-shown stamp was created by the artist affected by this disorder. The purpose of this decision was to educate other people of these people’s passions, understanding, talent and creativity.
People with Autism are just like us but with some extra or fewer abilities in some areas. They see this world with their own understanding and perception, don’t discriminate them, they are just common people with some extra awareness of their surroundings.
