2018-03-31 Sat
Croatia, Vatican City, and Slovakia issued new Easter stamps on 15th March, 6th February, and 27th February respectively. The new 3.10-kuna Croatian stamp recreates a painting by Mile Skracic of Jesus being taken down from the Cross. It belongs to a series of paintings that were created for the Stations of the Cross at the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Mary in Dubrave, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The new 95¢ Vatican City issue recreates a painting called Risen Christ by Spanish artist Raul Berzosa, whose works have been shown on many other stamps.
The nondenominated domestic-rate Easter stamp of Slovakia features a detail from an embroidered chalice veil that is now showcased at the Slovak National Museum. An image of a crown and a pelican representing Christ, feeding its young with its blood, is featured at the centre. A symbolic cross made of white dots is featured at the lower left.
