Gold Mohur of Sayaji Rao III

Baroda State was a Princely State situated in the modern day Gujarat. The Princely State of Baroda was ruled from 1721 to 1949 by the Gaekwads’ of Maratha confederacy.Sayajirao Gaekwad III (born Shrimant Gopalrao Gaekwad, 11 March 1863) was the Maharaja of Baroda State from 1875 to 1939, and is notably remembered for reforming much of his state during his rule.br>
This gold Mohur which issued in the reign of Sayajirao Gaekwad III was sold for INR 3,90,000 by Classical Numismatic Gallery. The obverse of the coin depicts the bust of the Sayajirao III and the reverse has a legend ‘Vadode 1 Mouhur’ in Devanagari with date and Scimitar mint mark within a wreath.
