Gold Nazarana of Cooch Bihar is a beautiful and elegant specimen issued in British India. This coin was issued during the reign of King Jitendra Narayana in 1914 AD.This coin is a coronation issue specially minted during the accession of the kings to the throne of Cooch Bihar. These coins were the only coins struck for the Maharaja of Cooch Bihar after the demonetization of silver half rupees in 1866.
Cooch Bihar coat of arms supported by a lion and elephant is depicted on the obverse side within the toothed border. The reverse of this coin depicts a legend in Bengali script 'Sri Sri Jitendra Narayan Bhoop Rajashaka 404' within the toothed rim. The Rajashaka Era 404 is equivalent to Gregorian 1914 AD.
