Great Roman Emperor Trajan Featured on Latest Italian Coin

The great emperor of Rome - Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus or Trajan who reigned from A.D. 98 to 117 has been honoured on Italy’s latest coin. The release is a part of a series of gold coins depicting Roman rulers.Trajan was highly capable in terms of his military decisions as well as administrative and political reforms. Under his reign, the empire grew not just territorially, but also economically and culturally. He was declared Optimus Princeps or the best ruler during his lifetime.
The obverse features a portrait of Trajan and the inscription REPVBBLICA ITALIANA. The reverse features the arch of Trajan in Beneventum that was built by the Roman Senate at a junction on a route connecting Rome to the port of Brindisi. An inscription on the coin states that the arch was completed in 114AD. The Mint Mark R stands for Mint of Rome. Other inscriptions on the reverse include the value 10 Euro, year of issue 2018, TRAIANVS and last name of the designer MOMONI.
