This silver rupee of King George VI is considered to be a very rare specimen. The most significant aspect of this coin is its date and mint. This coin was circulated in India during the British Raj.This coin was issued from Bombay mint in 1939. The fact that made this coin rare is the presence of 91.7 % silver in it, which was issued for the last time in 1939. The mint mark of Bombay was a small bead below the lotus design near the rim.
This coin was sold for INR 1, 81,000 by the Todywalla Auction in Ahmadabad on 9th Feb 2018 in Auction No 114.
