Bikaner Gold Mohur Sold For INR 80,000

The city of Bikaner was established by a Jodhpur Rathor Rajput named Rao Bikaji in the year 1465 CE. During the period of the Mughals, Bikaner was intimately linked to Delhi by ties of both loyalty and marriage. Both Akbar and Jahangir had married to the Princesses of Bikaner Rajputs. Bikaner came under the British influence in the year 1817 and in 1947 it was incorporated into the modern state of Rajasthan after independence.This gold mohur which weighs around 8.5g was sold for INR 80,000 by Todywalla Auction. The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of the king in the centre and the Devanagari legend ‘Maharajadhiraj Sri Gangasinghji Bahadur’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with the Devanagari legend ‘Rajshri 1 Mohur Ganga Shahi Bikaner’ Rajashri written at the top and ‘Bikaner’ written at the bottom.
