A way to declare humanity in the simplest and effective form is poetry. It connects with individuals everywhere in the world, sharing the same questions and feelings. Poetry is the main prop for the intangible heritage of the various cultures around the globe, it can convey the most profound values of different traditions.

To celebrate this creative discovery of mankind, UNESCO recognises March 21th as World Poetry Day. This decision to celebrate the Poetry day today was adopted during the 30th session of UNESCO in Paris. The Main objective of this day was to promote the tradition of linguistic expression of poetry and to offer the endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their society.

To mark this day, United National Postal Administration (UNPA) issued a set of six stamps in six different sheets. These sheets were designed by Sergio Baradat, each stamp features a poem in one of the six official languages of the United Nations. These poetries illustrated the concept of universal truth: the Evanescence of Time, Forgiveness, Longing, Love, Wisdom and Nature.

The motive behind too celebrated this day is to promote the concept of poetry. To make it popular among the younger generation, so they can see it as an art of expression.

The connection of poetries to India goes back to the oral traditions of Veda, the most primitive form of poetry. When we talk about Ramayana one cannot compete with its beautiful formation and description. India gave the world, many legendary poets like Valmiki, Kalidas, Kabir, Rahim, Mirza Ghalib, Amir Khusrow, Nirala, Rabindranath Tagore, etc.

So, friends lets celebrated world Poetry day by conveying our innermost feeling in the form of short and rhythmic stanzas.
