Farrukhsiyar’s Gold Mohur Sold for INR 45,000

This gold mohur which was issued by Farrukhsiyar from the mint Khujista Bunyad during the 5th year of his reign was sold for INR 45,000 by Todywalla Auction in an auction held in Mumbai on 21st April 2017.Farrukhsiyar's accession to the throne as a Mughal Emperor took place in 1713 AD with the help of Sayyid brothers, particularly Sayyid Hassan Ali Khan Barha, who was later chosen as the Grand Wazir of the Mughal Empire. He sat on the throne as the puppet of Sayyid brothers. Later on, when he opposed these two kingmakers they imprisoned him, blinded him by needles and finally killed him.
The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka Zad Az Fazl-e-Haq Bar Sim-o-Zar Badshah Bhar-o-Bar Farrukhsiyar’ and reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sanah RY 5 Julus Maimanat Manus Zarb Khujista Buniyad’.
