Silver Nazarana Rupee of Bundi

Bundi is located in the northwest region of India, Rajasthan. The term ‘Bundi’ can be traced from a former Meena king called Manan Shreshta. Earlier, it was called ‘Bunda-Ka-Nal’ which means narrow ways. Bundi is situated in the narrow valley within the Aravalli Hills in Rajasthan. The fortress of the state was built on Aravali hills which acted as natural preventer from enemies. Later Rao Dev Hada took charge of it from Jaita Meena in 1342.This state has issued coins in both copper and silver metal. The coin stuck before the Mutiny of 1857 bears the name of the Mughal emperor's. The coins minted later bears the names of the British monarchs.
This silver Nazarana Rupee of Ram Singh minted in the name of Queen Victoria in 1958 Vikram Samvat. On the obverse of the coin depicts seated figure holding Katar and legend ‘Queen Victoria’ around. The reverse has a Devanagari legend ‘Bundisha Ram Singh’ with VS date.
