Rafi-ud-Darjat's Gold Mohur

Rafi ud Darjat was the youngest son of Rafi-ush-Shan and the nephew of Azim ush Shan. He sat on the Mughal throne after the death of Farrukhsiyar in the year 1719 CE. Rafi-ud Darjat was an intelligent person but, he was completely controlled by Sayyid Brothers who carried out administration in his name.During the reign of Rafi ud darjat a revolt took place, which was successfully suppressed by Sayyid brothers. Rafi ud-Darjat was succeeded by his brother Rafi-ud-Daula, Rafi-ud-Daula is also popularly known as Shah Jahan II.
This extremely rare gold mohur was issued by him from the mint Mustaquir-ul-Khilafat Akbarabad during the first year of his reign. The weight of this coin is around 10.5g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka zad Ba Hind Ba Hazaraan Barkaat Shahanshah Bahar-o-Bar Rafi-ud-Darjaat’ with Hijri Year 1131. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Julus Maimanat Manus Zarb Mustaquir-ul-Khilafat’ with regnal year ‘Ahad’.
This gold mohur was sold for INR 6,00,000 at Classical Numismatic Gallery.
