The Mughal Empire ruled the Indian Subcontinent during the medieval period. The golden period of Mughal Empire begins with the victory of Babar over Ibrahim Lodi in First Battle of Panipat in the year 1526 and it started declining with the death of Aurangzeb in the year 1707.The impact of Mughal Empire can be clearly seen in art and architecture of our country. They were the great architects; most of the famous building in India was built by them like Humayun’s tomb, Jama Masjid, Agra Fort, Taj Mahal etc. Taj Mahal is the part of one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
This gold Nisar half mohur was issued by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the Hijri year 1069 during the 33 years of his reign. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Nisar Sahib Qiran Thani’ with the regnal year 33. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with the mint name ‘Dar-ul-Khilafat Akbarabad’ with the Hijri year 1069.
This extremely rare gold mohur was sold for 13,00,000 at classical Numismatic Gallery.
