The latest coin in the Tiffany Art series issued by Palau is the 2015 Nasrid issue. It features the fine Islamic architectural marvel, Alhambra in Granada. Alhambra is an exquisite palace built under Sultan Mohammed I upon his occupation of Granada in 1237 CE. The Nasridfamily ruled Granada until its fall in 1492 CE. The 2015 issue of the Tiffany Art series celebrates Nasrid style architecture by showcasing the ‘Patio de los Leones’ or the ‘Courtyard of Lions’ from Alhambra on the coins.Palau issued two types with Nasrid architecture. One weighs 2 oz. with a diameter of 50 mm and a face value of $10 while the other weighs 1 kg with a diameter of 100 mm and a face value of $50. The 2 oz. coin has a mintage of 999 coins while the 1 kg coin has a mintage of only 99 coins. Both have an antique finish and the beautiful inlaid yellow Tiffany glass integrates these coins into the Tiffany Art series seamlessly.
