Coat of Arms Featured on the Stamps of Latvia

The post of Latvia issued a new set of three stamps featuring coat of arms of Latvian Towns and Municipalities. Each year Latvian post issues stamps depicting coat of arms of Latvian Towns and Municipalities.

Designed by the artist Girts Griva, coat of arms Alsunga, Beverina and Smiltene Municipalities will be appearing on latest series Latvian Stamps. This set of three stamps comes in three different denominations.

The stamp with a denomination of €0.50 is dedicated to the coat of arms of Alsunga Municipality and depicts the magnificent golden ring fibula.

The stamp with a denomination of €0.57 depicts the coat of arms of Beverina Municipality, which features a fibula with signs and symbols which have importance in Latvian culture.

The stamp with a denomination of €1.39 features the coat of arms of Smiltene Municipality. The base of the coat of arms is gold-coloured and it depicts a blue cornflower with nine petals, symbolizing the entire Municipality.

The tradition of featuring coat of arms on stamps is going on in Latvia since 1991. The latest issue is 26th release of the series.
