Euro Cup 2016 Commemorative Coins to be Released by France

2016-02-02 Tue

Held once in 4 years since 1960, one of the most awaited football tournaments of the world, the Euro 2016 will now find a place on official commemorative 2 Euro coins in France.

The UEFA men’s football European Championship is to be held in France from June 10 to July 10. As the best men’s football teams in Europe fight it out for the title, it is a very special way indeed to honour this event.

The Henri Delaunay Cup in the middle of an outline map of France along with the two marks of the Paris Mint is featured on the obverse of the coin. The letters RF for République Française (French Republic) are to the right of the map and the name of the competition UEFA EURO 2016 FRANCE is written above it. A football stands out in the foreground, below the map, set on a background that features graphical elements representing the competition. The reverse carries the common European map design. The 12 stars of the European flag appear on both sides of the ringed-bimetallic 2 Euro coin.

In January, ten million coins are due for release.
