Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was born on January 30, 1882, the only US president who has ever held four terms in office.Franklin Delano Roosevelt was one of America's most important and beloved Presidents. He was first elected to the Oval Office in 1932. His administration covered two of the most troubling periods in American history, the Great Depression and World War II. It was under Roosevelt's leadership that during World War II America and its allies propelled to victory over Germany and Japan.
He also was probably the most famous American stamp collector to ever live. It is said that he carried with him a nondescript wood and brass box which held his collection of stamps. He carried his stamps wherever he travelled and worked on his collection for at least a half hour each day.
Roosevelt was honoured by the United States Postal Service with a Prominent Americans series 6¢ postage stamp, issue of 1966. He also appears on several other U.S. Postage stamps.
On January 30, 1946, the Roosevelt dime was released on the late president’s birth anniversary. The obverse design features Roosevelt’s left-facing bust while the reverse displays a torch with an olive branch on the left and an oak branch on the right.
The 1997 Franklin D. Roosevelt $5 Gold Coin was issued for the 32nd President of the United States. The obverse of the gold coin depicts bust of Franklin D. Roosevelt ,inscriptions around include “Franklin Delano Roosevelt”, the date “1997”, “In God We Trust”, and “Liberty”. The reverse of the coin features the Presidential sealed displayed at his 1933 inauguration, the inscriptions include “United States of America” and “Five Dollars”.
The 2014 Presidential Dollar coin of Franklin Roosevelt was released for sale to collectors by the U.S. Mint. The obverse features bust of FDR, while the reverse has the Statue of Liberty. Also a silver Roosevelt dime was minted in honour of his 70th death anniversary.
