125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar Celebrated with a New Commemorative Coin

The man who penned down the Constitution of India, Dr. B.R Ambedkar gets his due respect with a special commemorative 10 Rs. coin that was released for circulation by the Reserve Bank of India on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.The obverse will bear a general design with the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre and the legend “Satyamev Jayate” inscribed below. It shall also have the Rupee symbol with the denominational value ‘10’ in numerals.
The reverse will depict a special portrait of Ambedkar and a text ’125th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF Dr B. R. AMBEDKAR’ in English on the lower periphery.
RBI said that these commemorative coins are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011. Apart from that, the existing coins in this denomination would continue to be legal tender as well, it clarified further.
