Venetian Gothic architecture showcases gothic iconography with Byzantine and Moorish influence. The style developed and flourished in the 14th and early 15th centuries. Palau issued a $10 silver coin displaying prominent works of Venetian Gothic style as a part of its Tiffany Art series. The coin depicts the Doge’s Palace on one side and the Palazzo Santa Sofia on the other.

The Doge’s Palace is a prime landmark in the city of Venice. It was opened as a museum in 1923 and is one of 11 museums managed by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia. The Palazzo Santa Sofia, popularly known as Ca’ d’Oro, was constructed between 1428 and 1430 CE. It served as residence to the Contarini family of Venice which provided the city with 8 Doges between 1403 and 1676 CE. Once the Doge was elected, he would shift his residence from Ca’ d’Oro to the Doge’s Palace.

The inlaid green Tiffany glass integrates this beautiful coin into the Tiffany Art series. It weighs 2 oz, measures 50 mm in diameter, and has a mintage of only 999 pieces.
