Finland to Honour Philatelist on Stamp

The Finlandia 2017 philatelic exhibition will be organised from 24th to 28th May in Tampere, Finland to celebrate 100 years of Finland’s independence.Collectors from over 40 countries are expected at the exhibition which will comprise of the dealer bourse, competitive exhibits and many invited exhibits. A cover with four pairs of the 1856 5-kopeck oval (Scott 1), from the collection of Gustaf Douglas, is the major highlight. Items from the royal collection of Queen Elizabeth II will also be showcased.
Finland’s post office will release various items at the event like a booklet with a souvenir sheet honouring the exhibition and the famous Philatelist Faberge (1876-1951). The sheet would have a stamp featuring Faberge and some rare Finnish stamps. To other two labels in the sheet will depict more philatelic items.
