Olympics- Ancient to Modern!

At some or the other point, we all have been active in sports! We know that everything has a history and so do the sports.Do you know that the world famous Olympics Games were played by the people of Ancient Greece around 766 BC?
Yes… You heard it right. These Ancient games were played on the highest mountain of Greece, Mount Olympus, and hence the name ‘Olympic’. But it had a religious significance to it.
But the modern sports which we play today were firstly initiated by Frenchman Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1894 and the first modern Olympics were held in Athens, Greece in 1896.
In 2013, UN proclaimed that the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace would be celebrated on April 6 each year. This date also marks the opening of the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896.
How active and enthusiastic are you for sports?
