Anthony C. Paquet U.S. Mint Medals to be Auctioned

U.S. Mint medals by Assistant Mint Engraver Anthony C. Paquet will be offered at Spink USA’s auction on 4th and 5th April in New York.The obverse of one of the bronzed copper medal features Paquet’s 1864 Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, Philadelphia with start and end dates of construction – 1846 – 1864. The reverse features interiors of the cathedral. The medal is offered at an estimated value of $1,000 to $1,500.
An Uncirculated 1860 Japanese Embassy bronze medal by Paquet is also offered at an estimated value of $600 to $700. The medal celebrates the first embassy from Japan to the US in 1860. The obverse features a portrait of President James Buchanan.
