Poland Post Celebrates World Day of the Sick

World Day of the Sick is an observation initiated by Pope John Paul II to offer prayers for those suffering from illness.Observed on 11th February this day was initiated in 1992 to encourage people to pray for those who suffer from illness. 11th February is also the Catholic Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes – a name given to Virgin Mary to honour the apparitions seen near Lourdes.
On this day people around the world take some time to pray for the sick and for those who work hard to eliminate the sufferings of the sick.
To support this initiative Poland Post has released a special stamp. This bright philatelic item comes with the denomination of 5 zloty and depicts a very symbolic image.
