Three-euro glow-in-the-dark collector coins were issued under the Colourful Creatures series by the Austrian Mint in October 2016. A new coin will be released once in three months until July 2019. Colourful Creatures is the first series of three-euro collector coins produced by the Mint. Each coin features a different animal issued with a coloured photorealistic effect. They are all struck in Uncirculated finish.

The latest 2017 Tiger coin will be released on 22nd February. The obverse features a coloured tiger sitting amidst palms, ferns, vines, grasses etc. A huge boa is shown on a low-hanging branch. The main elements are separated by the negative outline of jungle grass. Other inscriptions include TIGER and 2017.

The reverse depicts a group of animals, each belonging to the "Colourful Creatures" series. A small patch of wild grass appears in the main design. Flowers and stars are depicted alongside land animals, while bubbles are featured alongside sea creatures. Other inscriptions include REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, "3" EURO and a paw print.

The glow-in-the-dark material is applied on the black stripes of the tiger, the outline of the animal's body and important facial features. The mintage limit of the 3 Euro Cupro-nickel 16.00 grams Special Uncirculated coin is 50,000.
