“In the Jungle the mighty jungleThe lion sleeps tonight...!”
The mighty king of the jungle stands tall and proud on this 2000 shillings banknote of Tanzania!
Tanzania is an East African country known for its vast wilderness areas. Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, is in north-eastern region of this country. Over 100 different languages are spoken in Tanzania, making it the most linguistically diverse country in East Africa.
This African savannah lion is amongst the “big five” of Africa along with the rhino, elephant, leopard and the buffalo. Tanzania is also home to the marine park which is famous for its whales, sharks, and coral reefs. Tanzania is one of the world's poorest economies in terms of per capita income. However the country has few of the most beautiful of the banknotes!
This tan and brown coloured 2003 banknote has the coat of arms to left, an African lion standing right along with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background on the obverse. The reverse features an old Omani Arab Fort (Ngome Kongwe) in Zanzibar Stone Town to left and a carved block and holographic strip to right.
Isn’t it beautiful? Go on...collect one for yourself!
