Jewish War Silver Shekel Sold for $600,000

Almost $39 million was earned at the auction organised by the 45th New York International Numismatic Convention. Heritage Auctions’ sale made $15,658,469 while the Classical Numismatic Group’s auctions made $11,292,580.A prototype coin, dated Year 1 (A.D. 66 to 67), graded Extremely Fine, toned silver shekel struck during the Jewish War was sold for a whopping $600,000. This particular coin offered at the auction is the first coin type of the three Jewish War shekels and half shekels.
The attendance at the show was reported to be outstanding. The 2018 show will happen at the Grand Hyatt near Grand Central Terminal so that the bourse is located in one setting.
