2016-01-02 Sat

The Royal Mint, UK had designed a special 60 pence commemorative coin to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Year. The design, however, was not minted for circulation. It was produced after research supported its concept, but was the idea was axed before production of the coin began as the Royal Mint believed that it’s commemorative coins programme for the Diamond Jubilee was ‘sufficiently comprehensive’. The coin was to have a hexagonal shape, but the design has not been revealed by authorities citing commercial sensitivity.
