2017-01-17 Tue
Stamps are nothing but a tiny piece of Art with some face value on it. We have been talking about stamps since so long but do you know the stamps also have some parts same like coins! So today we will make you familiar with the different parts of stamps:
1. Face value: It is the value inscribed on the stamp which accounts for the postal value.
2. Issuing country: All stamps have to bear the name of the issuing country, except for few examples such as Great Britain, Australia, Hungary, South and North Korea etc.
3. Design: It is the printed image in the stamp which relates to the theme of each stamp.
4. Related Inscription: It indicates what the theme or main topic of the stamp is.
5. Year of Issue: It is the year when the stamp was issued.
6. Serrations: Perforations are made to the sheet and are printed in a determined number of stamps to ease their splitting. There are also stamps with no serration, generally known as imperforate stamps.
7. Stamp frame: It is the separation between the subject matter or design of the stamp and the edges.
