Motor Vehicle Fees Stamps

This Motor vehicle stamp was issued by the princely state of Indore under the Central India Agency during British Raj.

Stamps are not only used for postage purposes but it is also used for tax fees and revenue collection. Princely state during the Crown rule issued these kinds of stamps for the payment of taxes imposed by the Government. This stamp of Indore state was attached in the permit document issued for the motor vehicle within the state as a tax or revenue fee.

These stamps attached with any document showed that the fees are paid or its tax-free. These stamps were used for postage and revenue collection by the Britain and her Commonwealths.

This royal blue coloured stamp depicts an illustrative border with ‘Holkar State’ and ‘Motor Vehicle fee’ in the top arc with the portrait of the Maharaja in the middle which divides the inscription. Below in Devanagari ‘Holkar State Motor Vehicle fee’ is depicted with denomination eight Anna on both the sides. The design of the car is depicted in the centre.
