1912 Summer Olympics Medal to be Auctioned!

On 12th January, RR Auction’s sale will be offering Winter Olympics winners’ medals, participation medals, Olympic torches and related items. The identity of the medal winner and the sport for which the medal was won will be revealed only to the final bidder.A 33-millimeter bronze third-place winner’s medal with original presentation case from the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm has an estimated price of $5,000+.
The obverse, designed by Bertram Mackennal features a victorious athlete, with palm branch, being crowned with a laurel wreath by two seated females. The reverse features an inscription OLYMPISKA SPELEN I STOCKHOLM, a herald proclaiming the opening of the Olympic Games and a bust of Ling, the founder of Swedish gymnastics.
