Wealth and Wisdom Highlighted on Year of Rooster Coins

Two new Proof silver $1 coins from Tuvalu, struck by the Perth Mint were released celebrating Year of the Rooster. It is believed that people who were born during the Chinese Lunar year of the Rooster - 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, and 2017 will be blessed with wisdom and wealth. These people are said to be hardworking, loyal, honest, and sociable.The silver dollars feature colourful roosters representing either wealth or wisdom. The Wealth coin’s reverse features a rooster standing atop a stack of coins, holding a string of bronze cash coins with Terracotta Army in the background. Other inscriptions include WEALTH, 2017 YEAR OF THE ROOSTER and Perth Mint’s P Mint mark. The Wisdom coin’s reverse features an older rooster in a Chinese water garden sitting on a scholar’s rock. Other inscriptions include WISDOM, 2017 YEAR OF THE ROOSTER and the Mint mark. The obverses feature the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, TUVALU, the denomination, the fineness and 2017.
The mintage limits of both the 31.107 grams coin are 1,500 per design. Each set comes in a special packaging along with a numbered certificate of authenticity and is priced at $123.88.
