Commemorative Stamps Launched By Jamaica and Mexico

Jamaica and Mexico issued two postage stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries. The official stamps are available for 60 cents each in Jamaica and 18 pesos in Mexico. Two butterfly species, the Monarch and Giant Swallowtail, found in Mexico and Jamaica respective are featured on the stamps. A launch event was held recently at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico and the Mexican residence in Jamaica.Many important dignitaries from both countries attended the event. Officials stated that the stamps reflect the multidimensional and ever-vibrant bilateral relationship between Mexico and Jamaica. The two butterflies represent the respective countries and symbolise the friendship between them. Both the countries had started work on designing the stamps since February.
