U.S. Mint 225th Anniversary Design

On 16th September, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) held a public meeting at United States Mint in Washington, D.C. to majorly discuss about the 2018-2020 American Eagle Platinum Proof Program “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” along with the election of jurors for the Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin Design Competition.

The event also lined up a closed meeting to discuss the Mint’s 225th-anniversary coin with the examination of a test strike. Some sources reveal that the chosen obverse design is the one recommended by both the Commission of Fine Arts and the CCAC in March. It features a left-facing bust of an African American woman wearing a coronet of stars. Other inscriptions include LIBERTY, the national motto, 1792 and 2017. The edge lettering reads: 225TH ANNIVERSARY, when the coin is tilted.

Officials said that in the 2017 High Relief Liberty gold coin will feature some beautiful portraiture illustrating America’s strength in diversity. They are extremely excited and happy about the developments in the coin’s design phase.
