Bahamas Celebrates Country’s Olympics Gold Medal Winners on Coins

On 9th September, Bahamas issued commemorative coins to celebrate the gold medal winners of the 4 × 400 meters relay event during the 2012 London Olympics.The relay team comprised of Chris Brown, Michael Mathieu, Ramon Miller, and Demetrius Pinder and winning the gold medal was special for a small Caribbean country which had sent 24 athletes to these games.
Bahamas has been sending their national team ever since 1952 Olympics and have won a total of eleven medals, all in athletics and sailing.
The reverse of this Pobjoy Mint coin features the four Olympians in absolute detail along with the inscription THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS and the event name. The obverse depicts the Bahamian Coat of Arms and the year of issue.
There is no mintage limit for the one dollar Cupro-nickel 28.2 Grams Brilliant Uncirculated variety.
The mintage limit of the ten Dollars .925 Silver 28.2 Grams Proof coin is 10,000 pieces.
The coins come in special packaging along with a certificate of authenticity.
