Highlights of Long Beach Auction

Heritage Auction’s Long Beach Expo took place from 7th to 11th September and significant rare coins were sold on the 8th. Experts have predicted that the rare coin market will boom considerably.

The event featured 58 1794 large cent varieties, 47 coins out of them are in the top ten finest for their variety and 35 in the traditional Condition Census of the top six in the variety.

The Ohio Valley Collection was another impressive one with 1200 lots offering gold and silver issues along with some early copper and other type coins, most of which grades from Choice VF to AU58. All of them featured original, sharply struck surfaces.

Another highlight was the Pennsylvania Common Man Collection of Liberty $10 Eagles, containing all dates, mintmarks, and most Guide Book varieties for the eagle series, except the nearly unobtainable 1875 Philadelphia ten.

The Dr. Bruce Mesara Collection had Saint-Gaudens double eagles, Seated dollars, Trade dollars, and key date Morgan dollars.

The Al Anthony Collection contained top 12 of the Lincoln Cents Basic Set, Circulation Strikes in the Current Finest category.

Many other rare and precious old coins were offered at the Auction.
