4,300 World Coin Lots Auctioned in Long Beach

Heritage’s Long Beach World & Ancient coins Signature auction began on 8th September and will go on till 12th September! Bidding is on for 4,200 lots featuring collectible coins with a wide price range.

The highlights include Italo-Greek incuse coinage from Metapontum, Croton and Sybaris; Athens “owl” tetradrachms; early electrum coinage from Lesbos, Mysia and Ionia.

Other rare roman coins include gold aurei of Julius Caesar, Trajan, Nero, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, Faustina Senior, Lucius Verus, Gordian III, and solidi. Byzantine gold solidi belonging to sixth through 12th centuries CE would also be offered.

350 modern Swiss coins like the 1796-dated duplone from Lucerne, 100 francs mule in white metal combining the classic 1925 100 francs “Helvetia” obverse with the Fribourg shooting festival type of 1934.

A dual-country presentation essai set from 1948, 100+ Brazilian medals all having a historic story behind them will also be offered at the auction.

Extremely rare coins like the 1613-dated klippe 1 1/2 taler from Pomerania-Stettin and 1761 Mexican 8 escudos of Charles III will also go under the hammer.
