Coin Released to Remember the Great Fire of London

The 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London is being observed with the release of special commemorative two-pound coins issued by The Royal Mint.The fire broke out in 1666 and went on for four days engulfing offices, churches, and thousands of homes along with it. The coin depicts the mammoth fire that set the city ablaze from the point of view of a boat sailing on the River Thames. They will be soon available for the public The obverse features the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth.
London Fire Brigade’s 150th anniversary will also be celebrated by presenting a copy of these coins to firefighters at Dowgate Fire Station in London.
