World’s Largest Public Philatelic Library Opens at Bellefonte
2016-08-26 Fri
The Match Factory at Willowbank Street houses the world’s largest, $4 million American Philatelic Research Library with its size increased by 60 percent. The library is open to the public and has provisions to store its delicate items in well-thought shelves and space-saving areas. Apart from that, the library has special rare book rooms, Wi-Fi connectivity, exhibits, show programs, a reading lounge, conference table, children’s area etc. The philatelic literature found at the library reflects the postal history and stamps from the 1860s. Officials are overwhelmed as they believe that stamps have innumerable stories to say and they would now be open to the general public.
A grand opening ceremony is scheduled on 28th and 29th October. Avail tickets for the same at stamps.org/library-grand-opening.
