High-grade Modern Coins Fetching Handsome Returns

Modern-era coins with a limited number of buyers certified in top grades can have a big impact on the price. A rare PCGS Mint State 70 1989 American Eagle silver bullion coin was sold for $14,100 at Heritage’s July Summer FUN auction.In earlier days, coins weren’t sent directly to grading services. Buyers in those days would not have expected the real worth of those coins in today’s times. Only seven 1989 American Eagle silver bullion coins have been graded MS-70. Officials state that the coin is a technically perfect example, with fully struck design element, well-preserved shiny surfaces, and a mellow golden-tan It is placed in a holder which is signed by John Mercanti, the twelfth Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint and designer of the reverse.
