Hungary Releases Olympic Special Coins

Hungary’s 2016 Olympic program includes three coins, showing a female gymnast on the reverse and a common design element on all three coins - uncirculated copper-nickel 2,000-forint coin, Proof .925 fine silver 10,000 forint coin, and the prooflike .999 fine gold 5,000-forint coin.

Hungarian women gymnasts have won 23 medals of all metals at the Olympics. A total of 168 Olympic gold medals have been won by Hungarian athletes, a number which has been depicted on the coin.

The reverses feature depictions of various sports like fencing, swimming, canoeing, water polo, wrestling and athletics,. The 2016 Hungarian Olympic logo and related symbols are also inscribed. Over the years team Hungary has performed brilliantly in all these sporting events. The obverse of the gold coin features the 2016 Hungarian logo and other common inscriptions.

The mintage limit of each of the three coin types is 5,000 pieces. The 23.7 gram copper-nickel coin can be purchased for $19.50, the 24 gram silver coin for $67.50 and the 0.5 gram gold coin, for $77.50.
