Malwa Sultan Nasir Shah Copper Falus
2026-01-01 Thu
The Malwa Sultan Nasir Shah initially continued the 100 rati standard introduced by his father, Ghiyath Shah, during his reign. Soon after, he introduced the 96 rati weight standard, with some variations in actual weights. The copper falus issued under the 96 rati standard typically weighs 10.2–11.2 g. In Hijri year 909, he reintroduced the 100 rati weight standard, but as it proved unsuccessful, he reverted to the 96 rati standard. Coins issued in Hijri year 913 include the reappearance of the Chanderi series, which maintained an 80 rati weight standard. Some of his posthumous coins, issued in Hijri year 917, were struck to the initial lighter standards of Mahmud II.This 100 rati weight standard copper Falus issued by Nasir Shah, weighs 10.8g. The obverse reads as 'Nasir Shah Al-Khalji Bin Ghiyath Shah. The reverse reads as 'Al-Sultan Bin Al-Sultan.
