Stack's Bowers' world coin auction during the American Numismatic Association World's Fair of Money, scheduled from 10th August to 12th August, is going to offer a lot of “ultra-modern” world coins. Some of them are highly popular coins in the market, some have very limited mintages which is why they are hard to find. There are many reasons why collectors would want to collect these modern coins like changing interests or for completing a set. Coins issued after 1500 A.D is considered to be modern coins. U.S collectors consider the 1965 date after which silver circulating coins were not issued. 1979 is considered the first year for the modern Chinese commemorative series.
In 1982 when the first Panda coin was minted by China, it became one of the most sought after coins for collectors in that series.
The coin offered at the auction is a 1982 Panda gold 1-ounce coin graded Mint State 64 with an estimate value of $1,900 to $2,100.
