Snow Leopard cubs on silver coins

In the commemorative coin series celebrating the cubs, Perth Mint has released a 50 cents silver coin depicting the cubs of the snow leopard.

The snow leopard is a large cat native to the mountain ranges of Central and South Asia. It is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The snow leopard is the National Heritage Animal of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

This .999 fine silver proof coin of 50 cents depicts the cubs of this endangered species of Snow Leopard was released by Perth Mint for Tuvalu on July 5 2016.

The coin’s reverse features two coloured snow leopard cubs in the mountains. The inscription CUBS and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark appears in the design. The obverse depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year 2016 and the monetary denomination, 50 cents.

The Snow Leopard Cubs coins are third the release in a series of coins depicting the cubs of the big cats. The coins depicting the tiger and jaguar cubs were released earlier and the next issues will feature the cubs of white lion and lynx.
